The Alberto Saavedra Library of the Abel Salazar House Museum (CMAS) has about ten thousand publications, such as literary works, monographs, catalogues and periodicals related to various themes: Art, Archaeology, Ethnography, Philosophy, History, Mathematics, Medicine, Museology, Politics, etc.
It is divided in three great documental collections: Abel Salazar’s personal library, which is historically very relevant to understand the figure of the Master and of the social, political and cultural scenario of the first half of the 20th century; part of Ruy Luís Gomes’ personal library, donated by the family of the former Rector of the University of Porto and, finally, the general collection of CMAS, which is the result of acquisitions and exchanges with various cultural institutions.
This library collection can be accessed using the catalogue and it is available for on-site consultation at the Abel Salazar House Museum by prior appointment.
Monday to Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
