Teachers, researchers, or technicians from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Health sector can undertake a period of mobility at FMUP for teaching (Short Teaching Assignment - STA) and/or training (Staff Mobility for Training - STT) missions.
At the end of the mobility period, the individual receives certificates from the host institution proving they have attended and completed the teaching or training assignment.
These opportunities occur within the framework of international mobility programmes - among which the Erasmus+ Programme is one of the most widely used - or under bilateral cooperation agreements that the home institution has set up with FMUP within the framework of international cooperation.
In any case, applying for academic mobility always begins with the support and information provided by the home institution's mobility and international relations office and the mobility candidate's access to mobility programmes, whether funded or not.
Teachers, researchers or technicians who have a contractual relationship with their home institution for the academic year in which they are applying and for the duration of the mobility period.
Concerning teaching mobilities, the lecturer must have a contractual relationship with the home institution that expressly includes teaching activities.
The Staff candidate interested in incoming mobility to FMUP is in one of the following conditions:
- under the Erasmus+ programme
- under a bilateral institutional cooperation agreement
You check whether you are eligible for mobility under the partnership programme and whether there is an inter-institutional agreement between your home university and FMUP - information and support from your home institution's mobility and international relations office.

Access to funding and periods of mobility usually follow the same type of guidelines between mobility programmes:
- maximum mobility period of 5 working days, plus support for 2 travelling days;
- minimum of 8 teaching hours per teaching assignment;
- a minimum of 2 working days for each training and teaching mission (translated into hours, this corresponds to around 16 hours);
The candidate is validated by their university of origin for an exchange period at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP).
From this point onwards, the candidate contacts the FMUP and the support service for these processes is the Academic Mobility Centre (NMA-UGA) of the Academic Management Unit.
