Cooperation Agreements

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) has Cooperation Agreements with various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that promote student and staff mobility (teachers, technicians, and researchers).

In most cases, there are currently cooperation agreements with institutions in Brazil and others in various parts of the world, as long as they are outside the European Union.

In this type of mobility, you can complete a study or internship period with full academic recognition (students) and teaching or certified training (staff).

What is it?

  • Individual mobility;
  • Regulated by a bilateral agreement between FMUP and another HEI;
  • It comprises the scientific areas covered by the bilateral cooperation agreement, and it is necessary to check that the work is compatible with the host institution before submitting the application;

Recipients

Teachers, Technicians, or Researchers (Staff) who have a contractual relationship with the U. Porto in the academic year they apply and during the mobility period.

Access to funding and length of mobility period

Although these agreements do not have support funding available for a period of mobility at an international HEI, there may be opportunities for support arising from the reuse by the U. Porto of other financing. It should be emphasized that candidates will be responsible for the expenses associated with the mobility period - travel, accommodation, and obtaining a visa, among others.

The mobility period should last a maximum of one semester.

Application Process

It is up to the applicant to formalize the application proposal:

  • Check with the Academic Mobility Office to see if there is a bilateral cooperation agreement with the HEI to which you want to move;
  • Consult as a reference the Application Rules applicable to the mobility of U. Porto (UP) Staff;
  • Gathering all the information and documents necessary for the application: establishing contact with the chosen host institution, proposing the mobility, work plan, foreseeable dates, and requesting a positive response:
    • For training mobilities, an email from a person in charge;
    • For teaching mobilities, an invitation letter specifying the teaching topics and periods;
  • It is vital to draw up a consistent and viable work plan for mobility;
  • Request the support of the Mobility Program Technicians in each Organic Unit (OU) to obtain relevant documentation/information for applying;
  • Complete and submit the online Application Form by the deadline set for each of the publicized calls;
  • Applications are processed at the UP level after an initial check by the OU. The results, with possible allocation of funding, are communicated to applicants by the UP on a case-by-case basis.

Contacts

FMUP's, o Academic Mobility Office (NMA) of the Academic Management Unit (NMA-UGA) supports these processes.
