Holds a PhD in Portuguese Literature from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, with a thesis entitled “Behind the Grid. Monastic Feminine Poetry in Portugal – 17^th and 18^th centuries” (Lisbon: Imprensa Nacional - Casa da Moeda, 2013 [2005]). In the same Faculty she obtained a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures and the Master degree, with the thesis entitled “Roberto de Mesquita and the end-of-Century Aesthetics”.

Her favorite area of research is the feminine literature (monastic but not only) from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century.

Other areas of interest are:  

1) History of Portuguese Theater between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries,

2) editing of manuscripts and the reprint of books from the 17^th and 18^th centuries,

3) feminine and masculine epistolography,

4) History of the book and of reading in Portugal in the Modern Era,

5) Travel Literature (she has given special attention to the narratives of pioneer air travels of the aviator Sarmento de Beires), and

6) questions related with the awareness of students and teachers of Basic and Secondary Education to the literary text in general.

The translation from French to Portuguese also has marked her activity in recent years.
