In terms of objectives, to understand the centrality and conflict of the paradigms around which the proposals of cultural animation in contemporary societies are structured; to relate the emergence of such paradigms with broader historical and societal changes; to understand the role of culture and symbolic order in the training processes; to understand the relation between cultural animation and the new social movements.
(1) To understand the main theoretical and intervention paradigms of social inclusion and sustainability in the social and solidarity economy nowadays.
(2) Recognize and understand the modalities of sociological intervention towards social inclusion and territorial development based on the assumptions of environmental, economic and social sustainability, with particular emphasis on the consequences of advanced capitalism and globalization in the reconfiguration of social issues.
(3) Identify and analyze the most important theoretical, ideological and intervention implications of the new paradigms of social and solidarity economy, in addressing issues of inclusion and sustainability and bearing in mind the Portuguese social reality.
Consolidate the previous knowledge in research methodologies and start training in methodologies of sociological intervention:
-strengthening the scientific preparation of theoretical and methodological assumptions underlying the research and sociological intervention;
-transposition of methodological knowledge already acquired and its deepening in applied research with objectives;
-operationalize the research and intervention strategies.

'Sociology of Health and Illness' is set to address the general issues of health, illness and medicine in the context of sociological analysis. The specific objectives of the course are: getting exposed and familiar with the theoretical and methodological contributions of this discipline within the general scope of Sociology; analyzing the social determinants of health and illness; getting familiar with the structural settings of health systems within a cross-country comparative approach.
Objectives:
- Understand the diversity of approaches and methodologies applied to the study of the "problem" of ageingin contemporary societies;
- Studying the main dilemmas and challenges that ageing brings to society and family;
- Analyze the processes of social construction of ageing and the relationship between public policy and family sphere.

Goals
• Know the assumptions and theoretical contents, deontological and methodological and research in the field of people management;
• Empower and professionally for scientific research and intervention approaches in the various fields of people management;
• Build capacity for intervention in the areas of people management techniques through the construction and use of the different operational instruments;
• Develop and improve critical capabilities and proposals on the management of people.
Objectives
1. Knowledge of the origin and structure of the main processes of social (re)production in Portuguese contemporary society, taking as reference the political regimes structured in the country during the XX century and the logic of its configuration in our days;
2. Identification and comprehension of the differentiated processes of structuration of the social and institutional spaces in Portuguese social formation;
3. Comparative knowledge of the main specificities of Portuguese social situation, taking as reference the current social situation in the country and in the other country members of European Union.
Knowledge about the course main theoretical and methodological issues, emphasizing the new forms of organization of the space and the territory; raising awareness towards the importance of territory interdisciplinary perspective; emphasize the global nature of urban and social change, considering the phenomena of social and geographical mobility, migration, ethnicity, culture and lifestyles; knowledge of new forms of representation and traits of social rural space; initiation to operational knowledge in order the conception of research projects and professional intervention.
Development of an original research project in the field of sociology; writing and presenting a dissertation on a specific topic.
