Objectives - To address advanced issues in quantitative and qualitative analysis. - To explore sampling techniques in quantitative and qualitative research designs. - To implement data collection techniques in quantitative and qualitative research designs. Skills - Proficiency in articulating the main theoretical and methodological elements of quantitative and qualitative research designs. - Proficiency in the use of data collection techniques and data analysis procedures in quantitative and qualitative research designs. - Proficiency in collecting, selecting and analyzing information. - Ability to work alone and as part of a group.

III. Mix methods: perspetives of integration
Students will have access to materials for the course in the e-learning platform.
Lectures and workshop/seminar sessions. Lectures on the topics of the course outline. Lectures will be combined with group discussions and presentation of practical examples, with a focus on the portuguese reality. Seminar sessions are organized according to a previously defined calendar of tasks. They involve group work and debates on the results achieved, with the teachers and the peers.

The assessment includes the following elements: - A report of data analysis; - A practical test on the contents taught in the quantitative module; - A practical essay on the contents taught in the qualitative module; - Attendance of classes. All elements of the coursework are compulsory, for all students.
The final grade results from the following elements, with the respective weights: - A practical test, performed in the computer lab about the quantitative module - 25% - A practical essay about the qualitative module - 25% - Report of quantitative data analysis - 20%; Qualitative essays-20% - Attendance of classes - 10%
