The choice of treatments does not depend only on the condition of the object. Other factors must be considered, such as its future use, storage or exhibition conditions, aesthetic or historical content, and the client’s budget.
The most common treatments include: superficial mechanical cleaning, tape removal, removal of lower quality protective systems, consolidation of highlighted elements, aqueous treatments to remove acid compounds, discoloration and stain products, replacement of alkaline reserves, consolidation of tears, gap filling and construction of protective systems that are appropriate to the objects in question.
To obtain a conservation and restoration treatment proposal, bring or send your object to the Studio for the Conservation and Restoration of Graphic Documents. Proposals and their respective quotations cannot be made without a live analysis of the object.
The proposed treatments aim at stabilising and extending the lifespan of the object.
