The Studio for the Conservation and Restoration of Graphic Documents of U.Porto aims at meeting the needs of U.Porto archives, libraries and museums, as well as of external entities. It preserves and restores documental and artistic heritage on paper and parchment.
The studio provides a wide range of conservation and restoration services supported by rigorous scientific knowledge and the most recent technology and equipment.
Our intervention methodologies are based on ethical principles that are internationally accepted and we use advanced methods for diagnosis, scientific conservation and restoration. This means that we can elaborate specific intervention methodologies that are appropriate to the conservation status and the nature of each object or collection. We pay special attention to the physical and chemical integrity of each object and its long-term preservation. Whenever possible, we suggest monitoring the treated objects or collections and applying preventive conservation measures.
