Abstract (EN): Design and Art are often misconstrued as two separate entities that require merging together when necessary. This couldn’t be further from the truth as both are parts of the same whole. This paper seeks to explore the general intersections between utilitarian objects designed for everyday use and artworks. As these two categories are often relegated to different spheres, this paper will demonstrate how everyday objects, when designed to serve their function, contain elements of artistic prowess and that artworks are in fact objects which can be put to use - just not in the utilitarian sense. My approach is purely analytical puts artworks and utilitarian objects under scrutiny to study how they exist in their natural habitats, and how such habits can be easily transferred into each other’s ecosystems. The implication of my paper is to correct the misconception that Art and Design, form and function, are divorced, and one supersedes the other. It affirms that Art isn’t only some sacred artifact found in a gallery, that it is all around us in the things Designed to be used to live our lives.
