Abstract (EN):
In Mexico, the high social and economic inequality is reflected in the physical and economic difficulties that vulnerable groups face in accessing a healthy diet. Thus, in this chapter, an analysis of census data was carried out at the municipal level with the objective of identifying gender gaps in the food security of Mexican households. In general, it was observed that between 2015 and 2020 there was an improvement in the food security situation in the country. Meanwhile, it was noted that the levels of food insecurity throughout Mexico continue to be higher in households headed by women compared to households headed by men. Inequalities in access to and control of food not only affect the status of women, but also have significant implications for food security at the household and community levels.
