Objectives

To enable the student in the collection, registration, gestures attitudes and transmission of clinical information (history of the disease, objective examination and complementary examinations) in the areas of Nephrology and Urology, important for the formation of the pluripotential physician. To use the information to diagnose the main nephrological syndromes and urologic pathologies and to establish lists of problems centered on the clinical situation of the patient. To acquire a nucleus of theoretical knowledge that empowers the student in the evaluation and resolution of the most frequent clinical situations in the areas of nephrology and urology and in the elaboration of adequate therapeutic proposals. Enable the student in patient referral and in search of information for decision making.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Each student will attend:

Lectures - fourteen lectures (seven of nephrology and seven of urology) lasting 2 hours each, taught every six months on Tuesdays, starting at 2pm, on the subjects referred to in the "programmatic contents".

Theoretical-Practical Sessions - fourteen sessions (seven of nephrology and seven of urology) on the subjects referred to in the "syllabus contents" taught to groups of about 30 students, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. students. The transversal teaching areas (Pathological Anatomy, Radiology and General Therapeutics) will be taught in this format, corresponding to each of these areas two weeks of theoretical-practical teaching (one in Nephrology and one in Urology).

Practical Sessions - fourteen practical sessions (seven of nephrology and seven of urology) will be taught on the subjects referred to in the syllabus ", in classes of 5/6 students, from Monday to Friday, in the hours after the theoretical-practical classes.

Evaluation:
The evaluation in the discipline will consist of two components, practical (continuous assessment – valuing attendance and participation of the student) and theoretical, with a contribution of 25% and 75% for the final classification, respectively, both in the Nephrology and In the Urology areas.

The theoretical evaluation consists of a test of 60 multiple-choice questions (with five hypotheses and one correct answer), containing 30 questions from the area of Nephrology and 30 questions from the Urology area that could integrate questions elaborated by the three transversal areas. In order to pass the theoretical test, the student must obtain a minimum of 14 correct answers, both in the Nephrology area and in the Urology area. The theoretical test has a total duration of 75 minutes.
The approval in the discipline is dependent on obtaining a minimum of 9,5/20 values in the classification (theoretical + practical), in both Nephrology and Urology.

The students who do not obtain approval in the discipline must carry out the theoretical test in the two areas - Nephrology and Urology - according to the criteria defined above.

The maximum number of admissible absences in accordance with the current regulation is 25%, both in theoretical-practical and practical classes. That is, the maximum number of absences admissible in each area (nephrology and urology) is 2, both in practical classes and theoretical-practical classes (75% of 7 = 1.75). The continuous evaluation in each area, whose maximum possible value is 5 (25% of 20) will be reduced 1 value for each absence in practical and / or theoretical-pratical classes. (ie a student who has no absences will have 5 in the continuous evaluation, while a student who has 4 absences - 2 in practical and 2 in theoretical-practical classes, will have 1 value in the continuous evaluation).

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

For students with special status (working Status, associative leader,...) who could not attend the miminum number of practical classes and seminars, not allowing a continuos evaluation score, have to be submited to a oral exam at the end of the semester, to allow access to the final writen theorical text
