Objectives


  • Acquire knowledge about the theoretical and methodological orientations of social psychology.

  • Acquire knowledge about integrated ways of thinking critically about the theory and research in social psychology.

  • Promote reflection on human action produced in social contexts.

Learning outcomes and competences


  • Ability to research, select and analyze Social Psychology research data.

  • Ability to apply the knowledge resulting from theories and methodologies of Social Psychology.

  • Development of the capacity for reflection and critical analysis based on the contributions of Social Psychology to the understanding of social reality and intervention.

  • Development of analysis skills and conceptual construction by the students, capable of supporting a wide range of empirical research.

Teaching methods and learning activities

- Theoretical-practical lessons (TP): includes analysis, by the teacher, of the program contents, articulating the theoretical exposition of the issues with the empirical illustration and student participation in the discussion.

- Tutorial classes (OT): include a set of scientific and educational activities aimed at consolidating the skills of students and supervise the preparation of the written work. The following activities are planned:
1. presentation of texts / other documents by the students individually and in small groups, with extended discussion;
2. presentation, individual and group, of practical work to be carried out within the unit;
3. solving exercises proposed by the lecturer within the tasks included in the realization of practical work;
4. deepening of the theoretical from the practical work experience.

The planned assessment evaluation components are:

  • Essays 
  • Exam

It is mandatory to carry out all elements of evaluation, regardless of student status. 

So that the student is considered approved in the discipline, the final classification must be equal or superior to 10, considering that : i ) the classification obtained in any of the evaluation components must be equal to or greater than 7,5; 

Calculation formula of final grade

The final grade is calculated from the weighted average of the marks obtained in each of the evaluation components:


  • Final exam: 50%

  • Essays: 50%

  • It is not possible to improve final grade on the essays component.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

In the special exam period, the assessment will consist of a written exam.

Classification improvement

The improvement of the final grade will be obtained by exam. It is not possible to improve the final grade on the Tutorial Sessions component.
