Objectives
Historically the image became decisive in the cultural dynamic mediation and active, able to help us universally explain the reality through a significant confrontation between the images that now surround us and which reflect the integrity, viability and knowledge production capacity .
You can define a swap information field, as a process of relations between the parties involved in an act of communication that sets expectations shared in what is understood as the meaning of the information exchanged.
Thus, the image is constituted as an object of visual culture, scaled by a set of properties, among which relationships are established which are defined in time - reflection, shape, and so as to be real values. In this context the main objectives of this Course are:
- Recognize the image associated with the life, ideas of men and as a continuous regeneration process the individual the universe in its relationship with the knowledge and the world;
- Strengthen and contextualize the image as a visual message and how structuring and active tool of expression and communication generating expectations of contemporary society;
- Identify and analyze the issues core concepts of generating image of a vision of expanded world and revealed the signs of our times;
- Understanding the sign systems as dynamic cultural mediators and active, able to better help us grasp reality through a confrontation with expressive images that surround us today.
- Enunciate propositions or paradigms that shape, objectively, different operational and methodological models to analyze and classify the images of a material universe and an immaterial imagery.
- Understand and articulate the multidimensional mechanisms of visual message as an image of college and the sign attribute. This approach and observation makes it possible to run a complex organization in which all parts complement an integrator set to contemporary visual culture.
- Develop observation procedures, question, reflection and interpretation against which the image becomes potentiating agent for the purpose of solving a problem of information, description and documentation of facts and social realities;
- Reveal the image as a technological and creative procedure related to the preparation, formatting, production and breakdown of a visual narrative that integrates image and the word in a comparable way in visual devices structured according to functional and operational standards for a universal user;
- From exploratory exercises, develop and build an interpretive journey, experienced and translated into a repertoire and individual program to produce optimized images by digital platforms that present themselves as alternatives to traditional media such as television and newspapers.
Learning outcomes and competences
- Acquisition of skills that improve and expand the visual communication possibilities of each student in different types of representation media;
- Collection and development of interpretive skills of specific phenomena of visual culture of our days;
- To train students analysis tools able to perform critical judgment and denunciation of the paper handler of some media as a contribution to an ethical contract between the public and the media;
- Enable students to practice closely linked to the visual reading of reality, and the survey, file and document production visual devices, giving visibility to contemporary identities, meeting a historic role in today's society.
- To recognize the validity of the image in the new media as the corollary of the intersection between the local and the global, expanding a new notion of a global city, bringing together all stakeholders for a microsystem local culture, with global reach.
- Get knowledge able to give validity to the document production in promoting sustainable development and contributing to a future cultural memory strategy.
Working method
Presencial
Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)
- Handling of some visual devices capable of generating fixed and / or moving pictures.
- Knowledge of some digital tools image editing and file tools and databases
Program
Module One:
core concepts of image analysis and ways of seeing:
- Observation methods, perception and dissection of the images and their grills for decoding;
- Exploratory exercises.
Module Two:
symbolic reading of generating image of a vision expanded in time (from visible to invisible):
- Images of real repertoires, virtual and imaginary (thinking);
- Meaning processes according to the diagram (R. Barthes): signifier / signified;
- The image, the viewer and the device;
- Exploratory exercises.
Module Three:
For a contemporary type of image:
- The memory concept in the Image Atlas - "Mnemosyne - Bilderatlas" iconology of intervals, according to Aby Moritz Warburg;
- Naked Image, ostentatious Image and metamorphic Image, according to Jacques Rancière;
- The time-image, according to Gilles Deleuze;
- Exploratory exercises.
