Objectives
The objective of this level (divided into B2.1 and B2.2), is that the student could be able to understand the main ideas of complex texts referring to concrete and abstract subjects, as well as technical texts that are related to his areas of specialization. The student should be able to understand texts regarding to explicit information, opinions and subjective evaluations. The student should also be able to recognize implicit elements of the message: information’s organization, humour, irony and cultural allusions.
The student should be able to establish a relationship with native speakers with a good level of fluency and naturalness in order to get an effortlessly conversation. In the same way, the student should be able to express orally his own opinion about general and concrete matters, to give detailed information and make an oral presentation about a subject during a short period of time. In all these interventions, the student should make use of native’s speakers resources in order to manage the implicit and explicit information.
At written level and according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the student should be able to produce clear and detailed texts about different subjects as well as to defend a point of view about general matters. Also, the student should be able to think about the language and to learn to monitor his own learning process. The student will produce texts of some length, using the usual syntactic structures of the Spanish language. The student will also be able to show an acceptable knowledge of the textual coherence and cohesion procedures: correct use of the paragraph, of the textual organization, of the lexical and semantic elements, of the cultural competence, etc.
Program
I. Communicative functions:
Showing agreement and disagreement using different speech registers. Being able to establish a conversation about specialized matters; debates will be organized during the course. Making hypothesis and conjectures. Understanding texts about current affairs. Evoking imaginary situations. Assessing facts and situations. Practise and consolidation of the written expression by preparing essays about subjects that have been discussed in the class. Acquiring literate vocabulary. Comparative study (Spanish / Portuguese) of grammatical and lexical subjects.
II. Grammatical contents:
Relative and conditional phrases; using the indicative mode or subjunctive mode in that structures and appropriated connectors. Using the passive voice. Conditional phrases.
III. Lexical contents:
Studying an appropriated vocabulary to the proposed subjects and situations.
