Paula Pinto Costa completed a PhD in History (1999), is full professor in the Department of History and Political and International Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, researcher at CITCEM (Transdisciplinary Culture, Space and Memory Research Center), corresponding academic of the Portuguese Academy of History and of the Portuguese Academy of Navy, member of the Society for the Study of the Crusades and of the Sociedad Española de Estudíos Medievales. Currently, he serves as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto and is a member of the Executive Council. As main research topics, she has privileged both the history of Religious and Military Orders, from the 11th to the 16th centuries, in the context of their origin in the Holy Land and insertion in Portuguese and European contexts, such as the municipalities. At the level of scientific production, she has integrated national and international research projects, as well as networks of researchers in the scientific fields in which she operates, supervised / co-supervised several theses and dissertations and she has collaborated in the edition of some scientific journals.
