Rui Sousa-Silva is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FLUP) and a researcher and Scientific Coordinator at the Centre for Linguistics (CLUP) of the University of Porto. His research focuses on Forensic Linguistics, particularly in the fields of authorship analysis, plagiarism detection and analysis, and cybercrime. He is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and of the Scientific Committees of the Master’s Degree in Translation and Language Services and of the Doctoral Programme in Language Sciences. He is also Coordinator of the Specialisation Course in Forensic Linguistics. Rui holds a first degree in Translation and a Master’s degree in Translation and Terminology from FLUP, and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Aston University (Birmingham, UK), where he successfully defended his thesis in Forensic Linguistics entitled “Detecting Plagiarism in the Forensic Linguistics Turn.” He is the author and co-author of numerous publications on (computational) authorship analysis, plagiarism detection and analysis, and analysis of cybercriminal communications. He is co-editor of the international bilingual journal Language and Law - Linguagem e Direito and of the second edition of 'The Routledge Handbook of Forensic Linguistics'. He is the Principal Investigator of the project NORTE IA+, “Transparent and Secure Artificial Intelligence for a More Human and Competitive Future” (NORTE2030-FEDER-02724200).
