Purificação Silvano is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto and a researcher at the Linguistics Center of the University of Porto and the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD) of INESC TEC. She teaches various Linguistics subjects on undergraduate and master's courses in Linguistics, Translation and Language Services, and a PhD in Language Sciences. Her main area of research is semantics, focusing on issues of tense, aspect and rhetorical relations in complex sentences and text. She has also worked on the development of semantic annotation schemes for corpora. In the field of educational linguistics, she has published on grammar teaching methodologies. She has participated in research projects in semantics and at the interface with computer science. She is the author of several book chapters and articles in national and international journals and co-editor of books.
