Objectives

- To acquire knowledge of the basic grammatical structures of Latin (morphologic and syntactic);
- To apply that knowledge to text translation with a progressive level of difficulty.

Program

1. Morphology
1.1. Nominal inflection
1.1.1. Adjective degrees
1.2. Verbal inflection
1.2.1. The Supine
1.2.2. Other nominal forms: participles and infinitives; perfect and future.
1.2.3. Perfectum (Indicative mode; active and passive voices).
1.2.4. The Conjunctive (infectum).
1.2.5. Deponent verbs.

2. Syntax
2.1. Subordination
2.1.1. Complement clauses:
2.1.1.1. Conjunctional: ut and ne + conjunctive
2.1.1.2. Non-conjunctional: infinitive and indirect interrogative.
2.1.2. Circumstantial clauses: final.
2. 2. The conjunctive in independent clauses.
2. 3. The absolute ablative.


3. Translation of texts by Latin writers (original texts and adapted versions).
