Objectives

It is intended that students:
- understand the function, in current times, of Archive, Library and Museum Services, providing them with adequate adaptability to the context in which they operate;
- identify differences and similarities between these Services in terms of the cycle of tasks they regularly perform and the way they interact with society and their respective “publics”;
- articulate theoretical and technical knowledge obtained in other UCs with the functionality of archive, library and museum services.

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of this curricular unit, the student must be able to:


-know and describe correctly the work cycle in an archive, library and museum services


-articulate theory and practice in what concerns the technical operations and the information diffusion procedures, in accordance with the target public of each kind of service.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The classes conciliate theoretical exposition, slides and videos presentation, group discussions and study visits. The assignments produced by the students should be the result of a reflection on the readings proposed by the teachers and the study visits and their oral presentation should allow the debate and critical analysis jointly in the classroom.
