Fernando Lobo Pereira is Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC), Faculty of Engineering, Porto University,
Director of Institute for Systems and Robotics-Porto, head the R&D Unit SYSTEC, and coordinator of the Systems and Control area of DEEC.
He received the h.D. in Control Theory from Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London in 1986.
His research interests include control, dynamic optimization, impulsive systems, coordination and control of multiple dynamic systems, autonomous systems as well as control applications in mobile robotics, power, and manufacturing systems.
He participated in ca 50 R&D projects funded by FCT (Portuguese government R&D funding agency), and other Portuguese funding agencies, European Union, NATO, and other agencies. These projects address a wide range of issues in decision and control, from theoretical - optimal and control theories, hybrid systems, and coordinated control - to applied - design, development, of advanced autonomous, and coordinated control systems for unmanned robotic vehicles, manufacturing systems - levels.
He is author of a book and of more than 400 publications in highly reputed peer-reviewed international journals, conferences, and book chapters.
He has been in a number of editorial boards of international journals, and in program program committees of international conferences.
As an expert, he has evakluated R&D project proposals, R&D project execution
for European Union, Portuguese, Italian, Austrian, and Cypriot research programmes, as well as evaluator of individual PhD and post-doc grants submitted to FCT.
