The Continental FoF Project targeted to generate new technical and scientific knowledge essential to the development of new high technological intensity products that will be integrated in order to create, and embody, the new Factory of the Future for Continental AA, which intends to address the complex upcoming challenges arising from the new technological requirements expected for the future generation vehicles.
In particular, this Project aims to enable the total detachment of the factory-floor and the creation of a new advanced and intelligent manufacturing system, in terms of (1) flexibility, modularity and capability of mass customization, (2) highly efficient digital connectivity throughout the all the facilities surroundings, (3) dynamic data performance in real-time collection, reading, treatment and interpretation of data, (4) autonomous and intelligent decision making process, (5) HumanMachine symbiosis, (6) sustainable resources management, and (7) dynamic and interactive logistic processes that assures a full and efficient quality control at all times.
For this purpose, it will be developed through a joint action of 8 entities specialized in the Project core areas that will promote a complete consortium: 4 business entities (CONTINENTAL AA), UP MOTION, NEOCEPTION and FOLLOW INSPIRATION) and 4 academic entities (UTAD, FEUP, UMINHO and INESC TEC).
The Continental FoF will mobilize 177 highly qualified human resources (including 76 PhDs researchers) during 33 months. The Project?s total investment amount corresponds to ¤ 12.7M.
In light of the above, this is a Project of special interest for the Portuguese economy, due to its structuring effect reflected in its strong contribution to a more dynamic, more exporting and more competitive country, in the international markets and in areas of national strategic interest (automotive
industry, production technologies and product/process industries and ICT). |

O projecto teve como resultado o avanço na indústria e no meio técnico-científico, a nível nacional e internacional, através da conceptualização, investigação e desenvolvimento de novos sistemas e soluções tecnológicas que, depois de integradas, deverão viabilizar o abandono do chão de fábrica, criando um avançado e inteligente processo produtivo (i) flexível, modular e com capacidade de customização em massa, (ii) conectado digitalmente a todo o seu meio envolvente, (iii) dinâmico na recolha, leitura, tratamento e interpretação de dados, (iv) autónomo e inteligente na tomada de decisões (sustentado na operação de algoritmos de inteligência artificial sobre os dados recolhidos), (v) simbiótico na relação com o operador, (vi) sustentável na gestão de recursos, e (vii) integrado com um processo logístico igualmente dinâmico e interativo, salvaguardando um controlo real e efetivo sobre a qualidade do produto, a todo o tempo. |
