Current Position: Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP); Integrated Member of the R&D unit CONSTRUCT- Institute of R&D in Structures and Construction; Director of the Construction Materials Laboratory; Vice-President  ICS - Instituto para a Construção Sustentável (Institute for Sustainable Construction).

Education: Degree in Civil Engineering from FEUP (1995); Master in Civil Engineering Structures from FEUP (1998); PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (2008).

Main research interests/skills: Geosynthetics; Management of Construction and Demolition Waste; Waste as Resource; Sustainable construction materials; Environmental Geotechnics and Sustainability; Soil-Geosynthetic Interaction; Seismic Behaviour of Geosynthetic Reinforced Systems.

Years of relevant experience: 25

Main activities: Principal Investigator of 3 research projects and member of the team of 4 research projects in the area of valorization of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste, geosynthetics, environmental geotechnics and sustainability; Scientific supervisor of 20 researchers (Post-Doc, PhD, MSc); author/co-author of more than 120 scientific and technical publications.
