Current Position: Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP); Integrated Member of the R&D unit CONSTRUCT- Institute of R&D in Structures and Construction; Director of the Construction Materials Laboratory. 

Education: Degree in Civil Engineering from FEUP (1995); Master in Civil Engineering Structures from FEUP (1998); PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (2008).

Main research interests/skills:S Geosynthetics; Environmental Geotechnics and Sustainability; ustainable Geotechnics; Management of Construction and Demolition Waste; Waste as Resource; Soil-Geosynthetic Interaction; Seismic Behaviour of Geosynthetic Reinforced Systems.

Years of relevant experience: 20

Main activities: Principal Investigator of 3 research projects and member of the team of 4 research projects in the area of valorization of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste, geosynthetics, environmental geotechnics and sustainability; Scientific supervisor of 20 researchers (Post-Doc, PhD, MSc); author/co-author of more than 120 scientific and technical publications.

Other relevant information: Vice-President of the Board of the Portuguese International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) Chapter (IGS-Portugal); Deputy Secretary of the Board of the Portuguese Geotechnical Society (SPG); Editorial Board Member of the journals Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering (ASCE), Environmental Geotechnics (ICE), Sustainability, Advances in Civil Engineering.
