The MECD aims to provide advanced scientific and professional training in
Engineering and Data Science. The program is designed for both professionals looking to update their skills and those seeking to acquire new knowledge and competencies in current areas of
Engineering and Data Science.
Objectives
The objective of the MECD is to promote excellence in advanced and essential aspects of Engineering and Data Science (EDS), from theoretical foundations to the practical application of IT technologies within organizations. Students will learn to:
- Work efficiently in project teams as engineers and data scientists, developing high-quality projects;
- Design EDS solutions that address ethical, social, legal, technological, and economic constraints;
- Learn new models, techniques, and technologies for EDS development;
- Critically analyze the strengths and weaknesses of EDS development technologies, driving change within organizations;
- Lead projects in the EDS field, fostering innovation and efficiency;
- Understand and value feasibility analysis, negotiation, effective work habits, leadership, communication, and lifelong learning.
Professional Abilities
The MECD defines a set of learning objectives described and structured based on the Dublin Descriptors and the EUR-ACE framework:
- To critically and thoroughly understand the central principles, methodologies, and techniques of Engineering and Data Science (EDS), particularly those involved in high-complexity and large-scale problems;
- To be able to design, develop, and implement new and complex EDS solutions and products using cutting-edge knowledge in the field;
- To be able to critically assess new technological solutions and promote the search for and application of innovative methods and solutions, fostering curiosity, creativity, and rigor;
- To be able to communicate their technical and advanced reasoning to diverse audiences, both orally and in writing, in national and international contexts;
- To be able to continue their EDS training autonomously and throughout their lifetime;
- To be able to critically research information to solve complex EDS problems.
Employment Prospects
The curriculum of the Master's in Engineering and Data Science (MECD) is based on real-world problems, with a strong focus on practical projects in
Engineering and Data Science. The MECD aims to train highly specialized professionals, capable of leading complex, large-scale projects in
Engineering and Data Science, meeting high standards of quality.
