Abstract (EN):
The present academic study was generated in the frame of a master’s thesis at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Oporto, focusing the discussion about Team Management and Conflict Management in Product Development (PD) teams (Vale, 2010). The specific purposes of this study were: a) to confirm the occurrence of conflicts between Designers and Engineers and identify the more frequent types, causes, and solving methods; b) to analyze the influence of the conflict to the effectiveness of the project, and c) identify opportunities and propose additional preventive measures against such conflicts. Fundamental topics, such as leadership, team formation and the conflict generation among team members, are here reviewed, in order to reevaluate its impact on project team stability, and consequently, on the success of PD projects.
