Objetivos
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
The objectives are, though a microbiological perspective:
1 – To forma matrix of knowledge analysis
2 – To transmit knowledge
3 – To enable the students to solve theoretical and practical problems.
4 - Making the students familiar with the laboratory.
GOALS TO BE ACHIEVED
At the end of the course, the students will have consolidated and practiced the knowledge of:
1 - Laboratory safety.
2 - Sterilization, pipetting, dilution, inoculation, media preparation, slide preparation and staining, microscopy, and spectrophotometry techniques
3 - Biometrics.
At the end of the course, the students would have practice of:
Microscopic observation of bacteria and fungi
Plating and microscopic observation of microorganisms from:
Soil
Nose
Microscopic observation of bacteria, fresh and after Gram, Ziehl-Neelsen, capsule and spore staining.
Metabolic-biochemical tests.
API and antimicrobial tests
Bacteriophages and water quality tests
Biocalculus
Problem solving in microbiology.

Métodos de ensino e atividades de aprendizagem
Theoretical-practical classes:
7 hours per week, divided as follows:
With theoretical-practical emphasis:
Five hours per week
With emphasis on laboratorial practice:
A weekly laboratorial class with 2 hours of duration.
Tipo de avaliação
Avaliação distribuída com exame final
Obtenção de frequência
Obtaining at least 9.50 on the average values of the continuous assessment tests and of the practical components.
Fórmula de cálculo da classificação final
To obtain approval for the course, students should have equal or greater than 9.50 values in both the final value, as well as in the partial values of the theoretical and practical components.
Each student will write an individual report of a laboratory class assigned to him/her.
The part with theoretical-practical emphasis is worth 80% and the part with emphasis on the laboratory practice is worth 20%, calculated as follows :
The part with theoretical-practical emphasis 80%:
Average of tests for continuous assessment 25%
Final examination 70%
Continuous assessment 5%
The part with emphasis on laboratory practice 20%:
Report a 30%
Laboratory notebook 20%
Continuous assessment 50%
Melhoria de classificação
Final examination for improvement: the grade from the exam is to be used with the formula used in calculating the final grade along with all the grades (of the theoretical, practical and laboratorial components) that were used for the calculation of the original final grade.
