Apresentação Pessoal

Ana obtained her BSc (in 2008) and MSc (in 2010) from University of Porto. Then, she moved to New Haven, CT, USA to perform her PhD research at the Department of Immunobiology, at Yale University (New Haven, CT, USA). Her graduated studies focused on the positional regulation of hematopoietic progenitors and differentiating B lymphocytes in the bone marrow and were supervised by Dr. João Pedro Pereira (Yale University). This work provided groundbreaking evidence of the overlapping between hematopoietic stem cell maintenance and lymphoid differentiation niches, and is a valuable contribution to the understanding of B lymphopoiesis in vivo. In May 2016, Ana joined the Iron and Innate Immunity lab as a postdoctoral researcher, aiming to identify the molecular mechanisms leading to the development of anemia during chronic infections, as Tuberculosis. Since February 2019, Ana is an Invited Assistant Professor at ICBAS, teching Microbiology and Biology of Infection courses. In March 2019, supported by an CEEC Individual contract (2017 call), Ana became a Junior Investigator at i3S.
