Objectives
- To allow contact with a minimally invasive surgery technique, current and with great potential for progression and future prospects (1).
- To learn the anatomy and common neurosurgical pathology amenable to endoscopic treatment/approach (2).
- To promote the contact with the technique in the operating room and also with the patient (both in outpatient and inpatient clinic, pre-operative and post-operative evaluation) (3).
Learning outcomes and competences
- Education on minimally invasive surgery for detriment oh cerebral diseases namely hipophyseal tumors and ventricular pathologies Neur
Working method
Presencial
Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)
Basical knowledge of Neuroanatomy, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and endoscopic approaches.
Program
- Hydrocefalus/CSF circulation disorders and intraventricular lesions (a) allow the knowledge of the intraventricular cerebral anatomy needed to neuroendoscopy (objective 2).
- Pituitary adenomas and endonasal/paranasal sinuses lesions (b) are common pathology that can be treated with endoscopic endonasal transesfenoidal approach (objective 1)
- Daily contact with adult and pethiatrics (c) neurosurgical patients with these pathologies (objective 3).
Mandatory literature
