Objectives
Apprehension of clinical conditions, pathophysiological mechanisms and generic therapeutic principles in diseases within the scope of Orthopedics, Traunatology and Plastic Surgery that are more frequent and/or serious, rank the principles of medical and surgical decision, action and timely referral.
Knowing how to integrate into an Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery team in consultation, internment or in the block, valuing self-directed learning and continued learning, teamwork and a multidisciplinary approach.
Contact and training in methods of observation, study and therapeutic, medical and surgical approach to conditions in the scope of Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery
Learning outcomes and competences
The syllabus aims to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes that enable the identification and referral of common or relevant nosological entities in orthopedics, traumatology and reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery.

AIM OF PLASTIC SURGERY:
1 - Wounds: healing process, sutures, factors that influence the healing process, wound closure, approach to clean wounds, approach to contaminated wounds, wound dressings, negative pressure wound therapy
2 - Grafts and flaps: skin grafts, other grafts (nerve, fat, tendon, cartilage, bone, muscle, compound grafts); classification, choice criteria for grats and flaps, tissue viability
3 - Head and neck: congenital diseases, trauma, infections, neoplasia, miscellaneous (disorders of the mandible, disorders of the maxilla, temporomandibular joint disorder)
4 – Brest, trunk and external genitalia: breast anatomy and reconstruction (prosthetic, autologous, breast reduction, thoracic reconstruction, abdominal reconstruction, pressure sores; external genitalia: congenital lesions reconstruction, trauma, infection, suppurative hidrosadenitis
5 - Upper limb: evaluation of the injured hand - cutaneous, tendinous, vascular and nervous lesions; specific lesions: infection, congenital defects, hand tumors, miscellaneous (Dupuytren´s contracture, nerve compressions)
6 - Lower limb: ulcers, trauma, lymphedema
7 - Burns: termal chemical, electric, frost (evaluation and treatment).
8 – Body contour: liposuction, excisional surgery
9 - Aesthetic surgery: facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, otoplasty, breast augmentation, mastopexy, tissue augmentation (fillers), cutaenous rejuvenation.
10 - Sutures Course - Basic practical suturing course in skin simulators, surgical instruments, suture materials, suture threads, safety rules, skin suture principles, types of knots, types of sutures (simple, continuous, still locked , Donatti, horizontal, inverted, intradermal matress), removal of suture material, simulation of the techniques covered in the model (skin simulator), exercises in the model.
