Objectives
- Guide the learning of the most common CNS oncology pathology.
- Follow the inpatient and outpatient clinic and operating theater in the different areas of neuro-oncology (Neurosurgery, Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy).
- Contact with the latest surgical evolutions (Neuronavigation system, intra-operative ultrasound, fluorescence guided surgery, awake craniotomies).
- Investigation and laboratorial aspects (Immunology, Genetics, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology).
Learning outcomes and competences
- To guide the learning of the most common oncological pathology of the CNS (gliomas, meningiomas, brain metastases, pituitary tumors).
- To Promote the practice of inpatient and outpatient clinic and operative theater.
- To allow the contact with the most recent evaluations in the different areas of neuro-oncological interventation.
Working method
Presencial
Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)
- Basical knowledge of Neurology and Neurosurgery and surgical techniques.
Program
- Benignant and malignat primary brain tumors.
- Pituitary tumors and brain metastasis.
- Surgical treatment, rdiotherapy in its multiple aspects, chemotherapy of brain tumors.
- Practical aspects of clinical and laboratorial investigation.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Theorical sessions - 3x2h (discussion included).
Pratical sessions - 2h outpatients neurosurgical clinic, 2h outpatients radiotherapy clinic, 2h outpatient oncology clinic, 6h operating theatre, 2h laboratory practice, 2h imagiology (CT and MRI), 2h evaluation
