Objectives

At the end of the clinical rotation the student should be able to:
Apply the clinical method, in the context of the overall diagnosis that Internal Medicine implies; Integrate the acquired knowledge and information; Make clinical decisions; Relate adequately with patients, their relatives, members of the medical staff and other professionals of the health teams; Use informatics means; Exercise clinical practice in an autonomous way under supervision.

The practice of Internal Medicine, through a clinical rotation (residency) in departments and units of Internal Medicine, including intensive care units.

Mandatory literature

Harrison; Principles of internal medicine

Teaching methods and learning activities

Supervised daily practice of internal medicine in the ward, intensive care units, outpatient clinic and emergency departments in 3 general hospitals

Eligibility for exams

The assessment has two components:
1. Continuous assessment by the tutors (0 to 16 marks);
2. Assessment of standardized clinical skills
3. Classifications above 16 or under 10 will need an oral examination.
