Objectives

Acquisition of competency to accomplish the tasks  basic related to management of essential entities (frequent and/or relevant) of the Stomatology and Oromaxillofacial Surgery speciality.

Learning outcomes and competences

 Knowledge and skills to enable come to acquire skills to perform tasks basic in the workup, pathology and clinical essential nosological entities (common and / or relevant) the specialty of Stomatologya and Oromaxillofacial Surgery speciality and for referencing in Stomatology and Surgery Oromaxillofacial.

Skills: Oral Pathology, Oral Oncology, Orofacial Pain, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Periodontics and Implantology

Acquisition of competency to accomplish the tasks related to management of essential entities (frequent and/or relevant) of the Stomatology speciality. The following themes are adressed: Oral Pathology: Diseases of the oral cavity; diseases,of the oral cavity with systemic repercussion; systemic diseases with repercussion on the oral cavity. Oral Oncology: Early diagnosis. Pre-malignant lesions. Orofacial Pain: Stomatognatic system pain and neuralgia. Orthodonty: Oral Rehabilitation for Orthognatic Surgery and treatment of cleft palate; Oromaxillofacial Surgery: Exodontia and neoformation of tissue in the oral cavity. Periodontology: Rehabilitation Surgery of the dental support tissue. Implantology: Prosthetic Oral Rehabilitation using implants.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Pedagogic modalities: clinical training, theoretical-practical sessions, group works and seminars. The clinical training takes place at the receipt institution, implies full integration in the assistance staff and develops in the different areas of the service: Ambulatory, Surgery and Stomatology Emergency Service. It concerns supervision as follows: tutor/students ratio of 1/1. It also includes the participation in department sessions and collaboration in research activities. The clinical training takes place from 08.30 AM to 01.00 PM and is supplemented by practical sessions, group works, seminars and emergency room, amounting 40 hours per week of student work (1.5 ECTS/week). In the log book is recorded the data from: pedagogic modalities (attendance, participation, etc.), clinical histories and notes as well as acquired competences

Eligibility for exams

If superior contact 90% and equal or superior final classification the 10 values.

Calculation formula of final grade

After qualitative evaluation as apt, a classification is attributed (scale from 0 to 20). To become apt the following conditions must be accomplished: attendancy ³ 90%, to perform at least one clinical history, and to obtain on competences, a maximum 20 points. Quantitative evaluation takes in consideration knowledge and attitudes (0-6 points), clinical performance (0-8 points) and learning interest (0-6 points).
