OBJECTIVES
To provide the student basic knowledge and practical skills for working in scientific projects requiring laboratory techniques for functional, morphologic and molecular biology assessment.
COMPETENCES

3. To critically evaluate a scientific paper.
4. To learn at least two different laboratory techniques.
5. To learn how to analyze and present scientific results.

Design of an experimental protocol; Laboratory security; Animal models of disease: surgical; pharmacologic; knockouts and transgenics; Study of organs and systems: functional and dynamic models; Study of tissues; morphometry and immunocytochemistry; Microscopy; Study of the cell: cell culture; DNA, mRNA and protein isolation from biologic samples; Transcriptom analysis; mRNA quantification; Genomics analysis; DNA quantification; Proteome analysis; Protein quantification. Analysis, interpretation and presentation of results.

Continuous Assessment done by the teaching staff during contact hours.
1. Continuous Assessment done by the teaching staff during contact hours, weighting 75% of the final classification.
2. An oral communication limited to 15 minutes where the student has to present the results of the developed laboratory work. Represents 25% of the final classification.
