Objectives

To provide the students with the basic knowledge of the Orthopaedics specialty.

Approach of the patient from the orthopaedic point of view; Arthrosis; Vertebral column: Deformities; Trauma of the vertebral column (Part I); Trauma of the vertebral column (Part II); Back pain and sciatic pain disorders; Limbs: Trauma of the upper limb; Trauma of the lower limb; Lesions of the knee; Lesions of the ankle and foot; Osteoarticular infectious pathology; Tumours: general notions of bone tumours; Children orthopaedics: Congenital deformities; Diseases of childhood and adolescence

Teaching methods and learning activities

 

1st Week
15 Seminars 50 m each

Location: Boardroom of the Orthopedics Hospital S João, floor 8

2nd and 3rd Week
Practical lessons daily in the ward, outpatient, surgery and emergency department block and weekly clinical meetings. Mandatory registration of all activity in clinical practice Booklet / agenda, which is distributed in the first workshop and that must necessarily be submitted duly completed and classified on Friday before the exam Monday.

Assessment
