Abstract (EN): To remain competitive, companies must react quickly to customer demands by improving their flexibility, agility, and reconfigurability while maintaining productivity and quality. On the other side, the current worldwide market competition forces companies to reconsider their organization, leading to the virtual enterprise and smart networked-enterprise models. In these circumstances, a major challenge is the migration from conventional factory floor control strategies to collaborative production automation and control systems. This article outlines new trends in manufacturing and describes the main concepts of the collaborative manufacturing control architecture ADACOR. It discusses how ADACOR supports integration and extension within the manufacturing value chain. The authors analyze ADACOR from the point of view of the collaborative manufacturing management paradigm, including how ADACOR fulfills the different specifications of the model's three axes.
