Summary:

High-efficient perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have been developed within an astonishing short time led by an international community of great research teams; it is now necessary to bring this promising new technology to the solar fields and to the building integrated photovoltaics. This is a thin film PV technology that promises to share the PV market with other giants such as silicon-based cells. However, to turn PSC technology to a marketable product several efforts are needed and the present project aims to give relevant answers to the following: gold back-contact replacement with a cost-effective
material; addressing the glass substrates low conductivity by incorporating aesthetic metal current collector grids to reduce ohmic losses and increase the absorption to total ratio area; develop and optimise scalable deposition processes for applying each layer that forms a PSC; long-term stability and lifetime assessment; understanding the dominant phenomena using phenomenological models.
