Details
Summary: Main purpose:
To create a full network of schools and Universities, at this moment constituted by one University, one Research Institute and several high schools, called ENEAS that will have as tasks:
Implement Agenda 21 strategies in Portugal and through EU;
Taking scientifically valid measurements in the fields of atmosphere, hydrology, soils, and land cover/phenology - depending upon their local curricula; reporting their data through the Internet;
Publishing their research projects based on the provided data and protocols; Creating maps and graphs on the free interactive Web site to analyze data sets; Collaborating with scientists and other ENEAS students around the country and around EU.
Providing assistance to Teachers through:
Training at professional development workshops; Teacher's guides, "how-too" leaflets, and other materials; Continuing support from a Help Desk, coming from scientists and partners; Contact with other teachers, students, and scientists worldwide.
The gathered data will be later on object of:
Statistical approaches to validate and correlate the measurements;
Data analysis to get a general picture of the facts.
At the end of the process the analysed data will be pumped again:
Into the schools the treated data;
Transmitted in bulk and in analysed form to the European agencies-namely EEA.
In this way each school and each science teacher can constitute an environmental acting agent - a true environmental probe point. And that can be done without too much travel and lodging. Also the devise of new simple and yet reliable new methodologies will be a priority.

The integration of all information will be done by GIS. Through GPS readings, data collection, and digital photography, we can begin to build a Digital Earth. GIS technology has the ability to display this type of data, and perform some analysis. In summary, people, places, and things can merge with ENEAS data into a visual look at our net and where we Ver mais.
