The research conducted aims to examine the audiences of Santa Maria da Feira. The study will shed light on the degree to which and how the population are involved in the cultural offer promoted by the Santa Maria da Feira city council. Thus, the project seeks to apprehend, among other aspects, the symbolism associated with urban spaces and sociabilities in the daily life of inhabitants, the knowledge they have of the network of available cultural facilities, and the manner in which they make use of and experience these spaces, as well as the level of participation in cultural events. The project thus intends to explore the factors that lead people to attend different types of shows and events, how they perceive and rate them, based on their readings of the events, both from the perspective of the attributes that characterise the social groups that make up the different audiences, and the observation of their behaviour at those events. Research is based on four major methodological procedures: a survey by questionnaire applied during events; interviews with cultural promoters and consumers; observation of attitudes/behaviour at cultural events; and the creation of Discussion Groups. |
