Abel Nicolau, BME MEng PhD

Abel Nicolau is a Biomedical Engineer (BME, MEng) with a specialization in Healthcare Simulation and Clinical Research. He also holds a PhD in Clinical and Health Services Research from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto (FMUP). In addition, he serves as a researcher within the RISE-Health R&D Unit, contributing to the Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, Data, and Decision Sciences in Health Group.

At the FMUP Simulation Center (SIMFMUP), holds the roles of simulation technician and coordinator. Furthermore, he is a board member of the Portuguese Society of Simulation Applied to Health Sciences (SPSim) and an active member of the Biomedical Engineering and Bioengineering Committee of the Portuguese Professional Engineering Association (Ordem dos Engenheiros).
