The PhD Program in Global Public Health provides students with the skills necessary to be qualified researchers able to conduct independent research and field professionals with a solid scientific framework and training.
The program requires an academic background in a field related to Public Health, from Medicine to Statistics, Health Sciences, Anthropology, Sociology, Economics, and Administration, among others. The cycle of studies lasts four years, corresponding to 240 ECTS credits, and includes doctoral courses and the elaboration of a dissertation developed in close collaboration with organizations and networks in the field.
The program is the result of a consortium that includes the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), ISPUP, the National School of Public Health (ENSP), NOVA Medical School, and the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IHMT), to enhance the experience in the training of public health professionals in Portugal and abroad.
