The PhD Program in Metabolism - Clinical and Experimental at FMUP provides students with the theoretical and practical skills necessary for developing a dissertation of excellence in the various areas of metabolism and metabolic diseases.
The program includes the fundamentals of metabolism, followed by a range of optional courses that cover the main research topics in metabolism and clinical biochemistry at the molecular, cellular, and systems levels.
Throughout the eight-semester program, students also have access to laboratory sessions, presentations, and the opportunity to participate in scientific seminars and J Clubs. The program is intended for students who have completed a Master's degree in Health Sciences or Biomedicine, in particular Medicine, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Nutrition, among other fields.
