Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in Portugal, as in the western world in general, and this is expected to continue in the coming decades.
In this sense, the second cycle of studies in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences will have as its main objectives to provide advanced education and promote scientific research in this field of Health Sciences of great importance in terms of prevalence, incidence, morbidity, and mortality.
The program is intended for undergraduate students or holders of a master's degree in Medicine or other fields connected to Biological and Health Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Engineering. Students should be able to become critically aware of the main questions that remain unsolved in the cardiovascular field, answering some of them with their research projects, thus stimulating translational research.
