Doctoral Programme in Bioethics

OVERVIEW

The PhD program is organized under a system of credits. It comprises a curricular component, with a total of 60 ECTS, and a research component of 120 ECTS (preparation and public defense of an original thesis and specially developed for this purpose).
The doctoral program is successfully completed after students reach a passing grade in ten compulsory modules: General Bioethics, Philosophy and Bioethics, Professional Ethics, Ethics in Early Life: Ethics at the End of Life and Palliative Care, Ethics, Health priorities; Environment , Biodiversity and Biopolitics, Biolaw, Seminars, Individual Projects.
The PhD program comprises 180 ECTS, lasting, in general, six semesters and is completed with the presentation and discussion of the thesis.

ELIGIBILITY

The Doctoral Program in Bioethics is aimed, among others, to all Graduates or Master Degree holders in Medicine, Dental Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Psychology, Nursing, Nutrition Sciences, Health Technologies, Law, Philosophy, Economics and Management. There is also the possibility of applications from academic, scientific or professional curriculum holders that are recognized, by the scientific body of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted, as having the capacity to accomplish this studies cycle.
