The Doctoral programme aims to provide students with competences that enable them to become qualified researchers in public health, conduct independent research, and work as science driven field professionals. We aim at bridging the gap between PhD research and public health practice.
The doctoral programme will provide opportunities for PhD students to develop their PhD research in close collaboration with organizations and networks with links to public health practice, at the regional, national and international levels.
The programme is organized by a consortium of Four Schools (Lisbon NOVA University: National School of Public Health (ENSP), Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM), Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IHMT); University of Porto: Medical School (FMUP) / Institute of Public Health (ISPUP)) and based on the Schools’ longstanding experience of training public health professionals, in Portugal and abroad, and provides all the structural conditions needed for such training. The new doctoral course will provide an innovative programme with emphasis on the full time dedication and mobility of students and teachers and on building individual trajectories that are scientifically competitive at an international level.
