Thermal medicine is one of the oldest medical disciplines, driven by an ancient tradition that cannot do without a rigorous assessment of its relevance and benefits. Thermalism is defined by the use of natural mineral water and other complementary means for the purposes of prevention, therapy, rehabilitation or well-being. The course promotes knowledge in different scientific areas, namely: Geology and abstraction, Hydrological Analytical Chemistry, Hydrological Hygiene, Hydrological Therapeutics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and General Hydrology. The aim is for the doctor to acquire wide-ranging skills, from identifying geological formations and their relationship with the formation of aquifers and natural mineral waters, the physical-chemical and bacteriological analytical evaluation of waters, their classification and respective therapeutic indications, to the different thermal and complementary therapeutic techniques and procedures related to public health. |
