Program

The syllabus is designed in accordance with the conceptual framework of the curricular unit. It is required to emphasise written and published science for different reasons.

First, it is an effective way of getting to know a question or a body of data and the problems of analysis and issues of interpretation that surround it. Organising this information into a clear coherent written paper gives a deeper understanding of the subject.

Also, it is an excellent way of training to communicate effectively a ‘transferable skill’ that will be useful to in almost any setting.

The Dissertation Curricular Unit intends to test the broad understanding of a subject, the capacity to translate individual science into written material, and the ability to communicate immediately and concisely.

Main areas:

  1. Written essay or other material
  2. Books and articles
  3. Other sources of information (internet)
  4. Citation
  5. Bibliography
  6. Plagiarism
  7. Data bases
  8. Scientific networks
