Objectives

The main aims of this subject are to introduce the student to the:
1. origins, reasons and grounds of the historical development of Forensic Neuropsychology;
2. areas of expertise and state the main issues of Forensic Neuropsychology;
3. possible neuropsychological factors involved in cases of civil, work and criminal expertise, and contributions of the neuropsychological evaluation;
4. the contributions of forensic neuropsychology for planning and implementing rehabilitation / reintegration programs;
5. "best practices" of neuropsychological assessment in forensic context;
6. expert testimony in forensic neuropsychology.

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of the unit the student should be able to:
1. know the origin, reasons and grounds of the historical development of Forensic Neuropsychology;
2. define areas of expertise and state the main issues of Forensic Neuropsychology at present, in terms of assessment, intervention and research;
3. recognize the possible factors of neuropsychological domain involved in cases of civil, labor and criminal expertise, and contributions of the neuropsychological evaluation;
4. recognize the contributions of forensic neuropsychology for planning and implementing programs of rehabilitation / reintegration;
5. identify "best practices" of neuropsychological assessment in the forensic context;
6. provide expert testimony or contradict expert testimony concerning forensic neuropsychology.
