Objectives

Students are expect to be able to acquire knowledge and skills to carry out a functional evaluation of in vivo cardiac and vascular function, as well as the implementation of animal models of disease. These skills are essential to enable students to participate in scientific projects.

Learning outcomes and competences

Students are also expect to acquire:

  • An understanding of good laboratory practice along with general safety measures that need to be applied when using certain lab techniques
  • Clear understanding of at least two in vivo research techniques of functional evaluation
  • Implementation of an animal model of disease
  • Design of an experimental protocol
  • Development of critical reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Critical assessment of a scientific paper
  • Analysis and presentation of scientific results
