Objectives

It will consist of clinical training with the practical application of knowledge acquired in the years before, in a contribution to teaching in a vertical way and encompassing semiology, semiotics and surgical therapy of the most frequent situations in Ambulatory Surgery and Central Block

Learning outcomes and competences

The teaching will be during the semester, in an optional module during the 14 weeks. In every 7 weeks 2 students will be received, which will have a frequency of two hours per week. During this period, the student will follow the normal activities of his Assistant in an experience of the clinical situations and problems that occur in the hospital practice of Ambulatory Surgery and Central Block.

Small Surgery

- Eventually students will be able to attend operative acts that are taking place, in the Outpatient Surgery Block or in the Central Block, of other specialties.

Teaching methods and learning activities


 During this period the student will follow the normal activities of his Assistant in an experience of the clinical situations and problems that occur in the hospital practice of Ambulatory Surgery and in the Central Block.
The planned pedagogical modalities, practical sessions and clinical training reflect the teachers' experience, the means available, the purpose and the curricular objectives.
Classes, consisting of a maximum of 2 students, will attend the Service for a period of 7 weeks including the evaluation.
The teaching of this valency will be carried out at the Hospital Lusíadas (Porto).

Eligibility for exams

The student must have an attendance of 75%.

Calculation formula of final grade

The lecturer will evaluate the students' theoretical knowledge, their ability to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, the ability to perform techniques, performance, attitudes and their relationship with patients, family members and other health professionals. It will also be assessed their interest and participation as well as attendance and discipline
The final classification will be based on the following formula:
- Assiduity - 75%
- Fieldwork - 25%
