Objectives
This curricular unit is intended to introduce students to mixed research in medical education.
Learning outcomes and competences
In the end of curricular unit, students will be able to:
- Understand the principals that can enhance the use of effective teaching and learning strategies;
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of core competencies of questionnaire design and analysis in medical education;
- Recognize the main advantageous and disadvantageous of each assessment method and the respective assessment method combinations;
- Understand the major psychometric tools to evaluate the quality of assessment methods;
- Identify the main quantitative methods in medical education research;
- Identify the main qualitative methods in medical education research.

This curricular unit will review the core competencies that will lead medical students to learn and discussing of interconnections between quantitative and qualitative research in medical education and increase the effectiveness of teaching strategies and learning.
